Levi Preston - Son of Levi and Abigail (Abbott) Preston. b. 12 Oct., 1840 in Danvers.  Married 10 Oct., 1862, Miss Mary E. Brown, of and in Peabody.  Collector of taxes, 1878-1886; Selectman, 1876 to 1885, and assessor; appointed by Collector Saltonstall as deputy collector of customs of the port of Boston.  Enlisted 22 May, 1862, as Corp. in Salem Cadets at Fort Warren.  Discharged 11 Oct., 1862.  Enlisted 2 May, 1864 in Co. F, 137th Ohio V. M.; discharged 19 Aug., 1864.  Member of Union Post 50.
