Effigy Pots from the Seven Continents
The sixth graders in Mrs. Nelson’s art class learned how to
make pinch pots that they turned into "effigy" pots (Pots in the shape of an
animal). After reviewing the seven continents and their locations, the students
were assigned a specific continent and researched an animal that was indigenous
to that continent. Then they made that animal become their effigy pot. Using a
minimum of four colors, the students under glazed their animal and then over
glazed it to make it shiny.
