In-Service Workshop - Course Number: FY10-0229-C2101

Developing Local History Curriculum II  - Website
(no pre-requisite required)

Description:  This course will provide an overview of local primary source material focusing on the history along the Peabody Independence Greenway (the city's new bikeway), and the planned city-wide observance in April 2010 of the bicentennial of Peabody's pioneering suffragist Mary Upton Ferrin.  In addition, one class (either 11/17 or 11/24) will feature a field trip to the Peabody Historical Society's Cassidy Folk Art Museum and Gideon Foster House on Washington Street.

Dates:  Tuesday, November 10, 17, 24 and December 1, 2009.  3:30 - 6:30 p.m.

Location: Higgins Middle School, Cullen Memorial Library

Enrollment: Maximum of 20 participants. Participants DO NOT have to have completed Part 1 to participate.)

Instructor: Sudi Smoller, Library Media Specialist, Higgins Middle School

Credit:  Participants will receive one in-service credit (12 PDPs) in Social Studies.  To secure one credit, one must attend all sessions and meet requirements specified by the Instructor.  Those applying for credit must complete an "In-Service Education Registration" form, sign it, and file it in the Office of the Assistant Superintendent by the registration due date.
