In-Service Workshop - Course Number: FY10-0229-C2119

Category 3: MELA-O Refresher


Description:  This course is designed as an introduction to the field of testing, assessment, and evaluation in second language education.  This course will provide students with an understanding about the MELA-O, a state-mandated assessment used to evaluate the English speaking and listening skills of English Language Learners, and the qualifications for administering the assessment.

Meeting Schedule: Tuesday, November 10 - Becoming familiar with the new videos.
                          Tuesday, November 17 - Recalibration test
                          3:30 - 5:30 p.m.

Location: PVMHS, Library

Enrollment: Maximum of 20 participants

Instructor: Tony King, Certified ELL Trainer

Credit:  Participants will receive 4 PDPs.  To secure PDPs, one must attend all sessions and meet the requirements specified by the instructor and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Those wishing to attend must complete an "In-Service Education Registration" form, sign it, and file it in the Office of the Assistant Superintendent by the registration due date.  This is a non-credit class.
