Tier 2 Math Instruction (Carroll and Welch only)

Math Specialists target at-risk students in Grades K – 5 and design small group instruction tailored to meet their needs.  This year, they will utilize Kathy Richardson’s Diagnostic Math Assessment, which is a continuum of nine assessment books that focus on the core mathematical concepts that students need to know.  This affords Math Specialists with a systematic way of interpreting student performance so that teachers can truly target instruction.  Throughout the year, students who demonstrate the need for additional support will work with a Math Specialists within the classroom and receive small group targeted instruction that emphasizes the use of math manipulatives.
